NLP Skills: Using Them To Establish Great Resource States
If you have read about Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) in a book, or you have attended formalised training in NLP, it is certainly worth improving your NLP skills. As soon as you incorporate NLP skills into your everyday living, you give yourself more possibilities about how you live . In effect, it offers you the methods and techniques to change your relationships, your interaction with others and to excel in whatever you intend to achieve.
The subject of this article is resource states, as spoken about in the context of NLP skills. Consider that you were able to feel however you want to feel any time you want, and it is just as painless as clicking your fingers. Now that would definitely be a skill worth having!
There are probably numerous situations when you would prefer to be in more effective command of your feelings, but as yet you have not been able to learn this ability. For instance, a lot of men and women are quite scared of speaking before crowds. Even thinking about it ahead of time, we can turn ourselves into nervous wrecks. We recall times when we have been tense in front of others before, and we might also use our imaginations to think about all the things that might go awry. And guess what, we are correct.
In fact, this is a prime example of how good we are at state induction. It is something that we have practised over and over, and have got it down to a fine art. Unfortunately, the resource state we create is counter-productive.
Given your previously confirmed skill at resource state induction, how would you prefer to feel instead of stressed? The choice is yours, but it would probably be helpful to be confident and calm. There have probably been a lot of additional situations when you have felt these feelings before. Simply settle down and think back to when you last felt comfortable and confident. Maybe it was yesterday or perhaps years ago. Call to mind everything about it, from how you stood, how you were breathing, how you felt, what you noticed and what you were listening to at the time.
Now, if you are thinking that you can’t do this because you have never felt this way before, then picture how a person who is calm and confident would stand, breathe and feel. Perhaps this is a person you admire for being this way. You may have noticed that sometimes that there little things that trigger memories and all the associated feelings you experienced at the time. Maybe, it is someone giving you a slap on the back that reminds you of how you felt when your father gave you a congratulatory one upon your passing an exam, or perhaps a whiff of a certain perfume brings to mind a romantic dance. These triggers are known as anchors, and as one of your NLP skills, you can choose an appropriate anchor and integrate it into the resource state that you are working on. So, you need to make your chosen state as big and bold as you can and then build in an anchor, such as scratching the tip of your nose. Then, whenever you do this action again, it will bring back the feelings of the resource state automatically.
When you become a master of the NLP skills of inducing positive resource states and effectively anchoring them, then you bring so many more possibilities into your life given that you know that you can’t be thrown by any situation. Even if you are to begin with, you have the required skills to reclaim the situation and make sure that you act to the best of your potential. Conversational Hypnosis in email NLP embedded commands
When you learn and try out your NLP skills, you are opening the doors to taking full responsibility (or maybe that should say response-ability) for your life. Not only can your NLP skills be employed to help you learn more readily and boost your level of drive, but they will also permit you to develop into an excellent communicator. What is more you will be in a position to offer your skills to other people both in your private and business life.
The subject of this piece is resource states, as talked about in the context of NLP skills. Suppose that you were able to feel any way you want to feel any time you desire, and it is just as straightforward as clicking your fingers. Just how marvelous would that be!
You realize that there are situations when we wish that we could behave in a different way. For instance, a lot of men and women are quite scared of speaking before crowds. Even thinking about it beforehand, we can change ourselves into nervous wrecks. We recall times when we have been tense in front of groups before, and we might even use our imaginations to envision all the things that might go awry. And therefore, it is something of a self-fulfilling phophecy.
You can see from the example that we actually practise getting into unfavorable resource states, such as feeling stressed, on a regular basis. Although these states are not especially helpful, we clearly know well the practice of state induction and there is no reason why we should not employ the same method to induce advantageous resource states.
Given your already exhibited proficiency at resource state induction, how would you like to feel instead of nervous? The choice is yours, but it would probably be invaluable to be at ease and relaxed. There have possibly been a number of additional occasions when you have felt these feelings before. All you have to do, as before in negative situations, is to call to mind all the occasions when you felt serene and confident and make it as real as you can. Evoke everything about it, from how you stood, how you were breathing, how you felt, what you observed and what you were listening to back then.
In the unlikely event that you are not able to remember any occasions when you experienced the kind of states that you are planning to access, then you probably know somebody who is a role model for you, who you are able to impersonate. Perhaps you know them personally or they are a public figure, and you can simply visualize how they would tackle your situation and act as they would. Notice, hear and sense as they would and copy them.
When you have achieved the desired state, ramp it up to make it as vivid and appealing as possible. This is where one of your other NLP skills comes into play. This is called anchoring. In this case, an anchor is a trigger for the state change. So, when you are fully experiencing the state such as calm and confident, that you want to re-induce in the future, you could, for example, scratch the back of your neck or squeeze together the thumb and index finger of your right hand; it is your choice. In this way, the chosen action becomes part of the calm and confident state. So, when you do the trigger action again, for example, as you think about or enter the situation where you would previously have been nervous, you naturally enter the desired resource state. When you become a master of the NLP skills of inducing good resource states and successfully anchoring them, then you bring so many more choices into your daily life because you know that you can’t be thrown by any situation. Even if you are at first, you have the essential skills to restore the situation and ensure that you operate to the best of your potential. How to download and unzip an mp3 file on your iphone / ipad
As the number of life coaches increases daily, the need to be specialised, to be different, becomes more and more a necessity. Someone once told me that ‘niching’ describes how you would like other people to remember you, to talk about you, so ‘niching’ is closely linked to branding.
When I started coaching I did not even know what a niche was. I remember asking myself: ‘Is it the topic or the people one chooses to work with?’ And ‘Won’t I lose potential clients by ‘niching’?’ However, trying to be everything to everybody does not quite work. I did that at the beginning and I found myself with my energies depleted.
‘Niching’ is actually the opposite, as it enables you to market yourself more easily, it saves you a lot of energy and money, and if you are known as the expert in that field, you can charge more.
But how to choose the ‘right’ niche? What are the criteria? Your previous job? Your life experiences? Your personality? The market needs? The competitive edge? The profitability? The market gap? If you look in a coaching directory there are so many niches, but how can you choose the right one for you? Or how can you even create the right one for you?
I remember last year when I went to a business networking event the first question they asked me was: ‘what’s your niche?’ I remember I mentioned the niche I had chosen at the time, but inside me I knew I was not very convincing, I felt I was stuttering. Why was that? If I was not convinced enough in myself, how could I convince someone else? And why was I not convinced in myself?
I had worked hard to choose my niche, I had chosen carefully according to my personality and experience, and the market needs; I had done my research checking that there were not many coaches already in that niche, but it was not enough.
What was I missing?
I had overlooked the most important thing: I hadn’t actually chosen my niche by tuning in with my heart. I hadn’t listened inside to what I already knew was what I really wanted to do. And the reason why I hadn’t listened was because of fears I wouldn’t have found clients if I had chosen that niche.
Now I believe in every coach there is a unique niche inside, a niche that reflects who you really are, and if you choose that, clients will come to you; you will simply attract them to you as a magnet, because this is one of the laws of the universe.
So there is no place for worries that you will not find clients, because they will come to you. All you need to do is find that niche, the one that resonates with your heart, the niche that corresponds to your soul, and everything will become easy as you go with the flow of energies of the universe.
So, how can you find your unique niche? Just listen inside to who you really are. Simply tune in..

Google Voice Search Vs. Siri in Battle For Speech-driven Ads (Google Watch)
Anyone who reads this blog knows I’m a pretty faithful follower of John
Battelle’s own Search Blog.
Battelle sparked an interesting conversation about the mobile ad opportunities
voice search technologies such as Google Voice Actions and Apple’s Siri
virtual assistant.
Battelle wrote:
> Driving into work yesterday I realized how useful voice search is going to
be to me, once I’ve got it installed. Stuck in traffic, I tried searching for
alternate routes, and it struck me how much easier it’d be to just say “give
me alternate routes.” That got me thinking about all manner of things – many
of which are now possible – “Text my wife I’ll be late,” “Email my assistant
and ask her to print the files for my 11 am meeting,” “Find me a good liquor
store within a mile of here.”
Battelle suggested click-to-call might be Google’s primary business model for
Google’s Voice Actions, which I’m guessing will arrive as part of the “Majel”
voice search upgrade.
Maybe Google will call it speak to call, and those who advertised would pay
based on calls made to their place of business from Google phones. No paid
inclusion please!
