How to do self hypnosis?

For a phobia of sick and germs?
Like if I find a video on youtube what do I do?
Can you give me step by step instructions please?
I don’t want to pay for a book or CD!

All hypnosis, self and with a guide, is just allowing yourself to reach a state of total relaxation which allows clearer thought and uninhibited physical and mental processes to take place.
Step 1- Find a quiet place. Sit with your feet on the floor and hands in your lap. Close your eyes.
2- Think about a place that is calming and soothing to you (i.e. the beach)
3- Picture yourself looking out over the water, with gentle waves rolling along.
4- Picture a piece of driftwood floating in the water, and then slowly imagine it dipping down below the surface.
5- Imagine this driftwood going deeper and deeper. Deeper still, until it reaches the bottom of the water. It sits on one end for a moment and then slowly sinks to lay flat on the ocean floor.
6- Now think to yourself about the fact that you can control things in your life and that there may be something that needs to change. Give yourself a choice that you can either choose to change the way you feel about certain issues or you can change the way the issues interact with you.
7- Give yourself a cue word or situation that will cue you to be calm, relaxed, and capable of handling stressors.
8- Last thing…Think back to the water and loook underneath to that driftwood. Now imagine it slowly working its way back to the surface, slowly, until it breaks through the top of the water and comes fully back to the surface.

Practice this daily for 15 minutes or so until you become less aware of everything going on around you and more aware of your rhythms of your body (i.e. breathing deeply, temperature, the way your hands feel in your lap, etc). In time, you will be able to put yourself into a trance at anytime.
