Implementing Your NLP Skills To Generate Great Resource States
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) provides a whole variety of approaches and methods for causing change in both your everyday life and the everyday life of those you love and everyone else too. If you try out your NLP skills on a regular basis, then you will begin to discover that the quality of your relationships and your communication will develop greatly. In addition, your NLP skills will help you to be in a position to do things much better and faster.
The topic of this article is resource states, as spoken about in the context of NLP skills. Let’s say you were able to wave an imaginary magic wand and feel any way you want to feel, anytime you like. How brilliant would that be!
There are perhaps countless situations when you would like to be in better control of your feelings, but as yet you have not been able to learn this skill. For example, numerous individuals are really scared of speaking before crowds. We don’t even have to be in the situation. Simply thinking about it can bring us out into a cold sweat. We recall when we have been stressed in front of others before, and we might even use our imaginations to envision all the things that could go wrong. And thus, it is somewhat a self-fulfilling phophecy.
You can see from the example that we actually practise getting into bad resource states, such as feeling worried, on a regular basis. Despite the fact that these states are not especially beneficial, we clearly know well the process of state induction and there is no reason why we should not use the same process to induce constructive resource states.
Given your already confirmed expertise at resource state induction, how would you like to feel rather than nervous? The choice is yours, but it would probably be invaluable to be confident and calm. There have possibly been countless additional situations when you have encountered these feelings before. All you have to do, as before in negative circumstances, is to remember all the times when you felt relaxed and self-confident and make it as authentic as you can. Remember everything about it, from how you was standing, how you were breathing, how you felt, what you noticed and what you were listening to at the time.
Now, if you are thinking that you can’t do this because you have never felt this way before, then visualize how someone who is relaxed and self-confident would stand, breathe and feel. Maybe this is someone you admire for being this way. You may have noticed that sometimes that there little things that trigger memories and all the associated feelings you experienced at the time. Maybe, it is someone giving you a slap on the back that reminds you of how you felt when your father gave you a congratulatory one upon your passing an exam, or perhaps a whiff of a certain perfume brings to mind a romantic dance. These triggers are known as anchors, and as one of your NLP skills, you can choose an appropriate anchor and integrate it into the resource state that you are working on. So, you need to make your chosen state as big and bold as you can and then build in an anchor, such as scratching the tip of your nose. Then, whenever you do this action again, it will bring back the feelings of the resource state automatically.
When you become a master of the NLP skills of inducing good resource states and effectively anchoring them, then you bring so many more opportunities into your daily life as you know that you can’t be thrown by any situation. Even if you are initially, you have the essential skills to recover the situation and make sure that you perform to the best of your ability.
