Tips On How To Improve Your NLP Skills

If you study and practise NLP skills, you are taking steps to taking complete responsibility (or perhaps that should say response-ability) for your life. Not only can your NLP skills be employed to help you learn more easily and increase your level of drive, but they will also enable you to become an outstanding communicator. What’s more you will be able to offer your knowledge to other people both in your private and business life.

The topic of this article is resource states, as talked about in the context of NLP skills. Consider that you could feel however you wish to feel any time you desire, and it is just as painless as blinking. How marvelous would that be!

You realize that there are times when we wish that we could act differently. For instance, many individuals are quite scared of speaking before crowds. We don’t even have to be in the situation. Just thinking about it can easily bring us out into a cold sweat. We recall occasions when we have been tense in front of people previously, and we might also use our imaginations to conjure up everything that could go wrong. And guess what, we are correct.

In fact, this is a great illustration of how effective we are at state induction. It is something that we have practised again and again, and have got it down to a fine art. Sadly, the resource state we create is counter-productive.

Given your previously proven proficiency at resource state induction, how would you like to feel instead of stressed? You would most likely like to be peaceful and self-confident. Well, you do already know what it is like to be like this. All you have to do, as previously in negative situations, is to recollect all the moments when you felt peaceful and self-confident and make it as real as you can. Evoke everything about it, from how you stood, how you were breathing, how you felt, what you observed and what you were listening to back then.

In the unlikely event that you are not able to recollect any events when you felt the kind of states that you are intending to access, then you probably know somebody who is a role model for you, who you are able to emulate. Maybe you know them personally or they are a public figure, and you can simply envision how they would approach your situation and operate as they would. Notice, listen and sense as they would and copy them.

When you have achieved the desired state, ramp it up to make it as vivid and appealing as possible. This is where one of your other NLP skills comes into play. This is called anchoring. In this case, an anchor is a trigger for the state change. So, when you are fully experiencing the state such as calm and confident, that you want to re-induce in the future, you could, for example, scratch the back of your neck or squeeze together the thumb and index finger of your right hand; it is your choice. In this way, the chosen action becomes part of the calm and confident state. So, when you do the trigger action again, for example, as you think about or enter the situation where you would previously have been nervous, you naturally enter the desired resource state.
If you become a master of the NLP skills of inducing good resource states and effectively anchoring them, then you bring so many more opportunities into your daily life as you know that you can’t be thrown by any situation. Even if you are initially, you have the essential skills to retrieve the situation and make sure that you operate to the best of your ability.
